Who We Are
We enlighten people to learn ways to cope better with the stresses of life through our group therapy sessions over a cup of tea.
Tea & Reflection is a mental health peer support group/community working on reducing the stigma around mental disorders in Nigeria, especially in the northern parts of Nigeria.
We provide a safe space where people can share their personal experiences on contemporary issues in mental health, such as anxiety and depression (which, according to The World Health Organization, is one of the most ignored and misunderstood mental disorders in Nigeria, with about 7million Nigerians suffering from it), PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), OCD (obsessive compulsive disorders), eating disorders and a bunch of other mental disorders.
The initiative spreads awareness around issues with mental health. It educates people about the importance of mental health in our communities using social media platforms, podcasts and awareness campaigns in the form of road walks.
MISSION
Tea & Reflection’s mission is to provide direct assistance to those facing mental health challenges in Nigeria.
By creating a safe space for open dialogue, the initiative aims to reduce stigma, challenge societal attitudes, and empower individuals, especially youth, to share their struggles.
Through education and support, Tea & Reflection aspires to foster a more empathetic and compassionate society, contributing to a positive shift in the perception of mental health in Nigeria.
VISION
Tea & Reflection envisions a stigma-free future for mental health in Nigeria, especially in Niger state. We aim to provide immediate assistance, break down societal barriers, and promote empathy through physical group therapy sessions over tea, impactful awareness campaigns, outreach programs, and an insightful podcast.
We strive to empower individuals with the knowledge of healthy coping strategies, fostering fulfilling lives and harmonious relationships within the community and across Nigeria.
