Into Awareness — A mindfulness workshop
Awareness is simply the ability to feel or perceive things. On the other hand, mindfulness is the state of being aware of the present moment or situation.
Mindfulness means different things to different people. It depends on who you’re asking. For some, it’s about living in a state of total awareness of the here and now—being present and not judging others in the world around you. For others, it’s more about being in a state that is thoughtful and calm. A state that allows them to be free and in their most accurate form in a stressful world where senses often become dull.
This workshop encourages general mental well-being and development. It helps you reach a place of utter calmness, clarity and concentration that promotes awareness and relaxation. It is a self-regulatory journey that focuses on training attention and awareness to bring mental processes under greater voluntary control. It also helps free you from conscious slavery.
It is also a shift in focus from the overwhelming thoughts and chaos around us that’s causing our stress levels to heighten, causing unhealthy changes in the body and mind into the present, through some mindfulness activities such as deep breathing, meditation, journaling, yoga, etc. These activities have been proven to reduce stress and anxiety, improve concentration, mental clarity and freedom, and also the ability to be in touch with ourselves on a deeper level, relate with others and with ourselves, with kindness, compassion and acceptance.
However, there’s no “right way” to practice mindfulness. One can explore the different mindfulness activities until they find the one that works for them. You may even try an extra mindfulness exercise for other occasions/situations, depending on the result you hope to achieve.
Mindfulness is the practice of purposely focusing on the present moment—and accepting it without judgment. Mindfulness is now being examined scientifically and is a critical element of stress reduction and happiness.
